An introduction to Joao Barbosa

Born in Proto, Portugal Joao Barbos has stayed close to his family and where most of his success stemmed from. When he was younger he played in low limit stakes Hold ‘em and small buy-in tournaments.

As he became more successful, he decided to make a step up to No Limit Hold’em games, to prepare for this he studied poker books and watching videos by pro players and beginner guides. He also spent numerous hours to practise what he read click here.

As a side career Joao studied for a computer engineering degree which he completed before decided to go into the poker career full time.

Since 2008, Joao has made impressive strides to be one of the top poker players despite being on the tournament tour for only a short time. In early May 2009 he put on a strong showing in Madrid, winning the top prize of €115K in the game of No Limit Holdem Poker. He continued on the tour with successful events in London and Poland.
In Poland he beat off over 200 other players to with the top prize of €367K putting his total winnings for the year 2009 to over $690K with still the rest of the year to go.
